Pre-Pregnancy Planning

Thinking about trying for a baby is an exciting step, and the right preparation can make a real difference. A pre-pregnancy consultation gives you a clear picture of where your health stands and what to consider before you begin, so you can go into the process feeling informed and prepared.

What to expect

Your pre-pregnancy consultation covers a thorough review of your overall health, medical history and any existing conditions that may be relevant to conception or pregnancy. We look at the factors that can influence your journey from the outset, so that anything worth addressing is identified early rather than discovered later.

Where relevant, we can arrange blood tests, discuss supplementation and talk through lifestyle factors that support a healthy conception and pregnancy.

Planning together

Pre-pregnancy assessments are available for all family types. We're experienced in supporting single parents and couples, including same-sex couples, and can provide referrals to fertility clinics to streamline the process for those who need it. Where both partners are involved, we encourage them to come in together so everyone goes into the journey with the same understanding.

Your next steps

Depending on what comes up in your consultation, we may recommend further assessments, monitoring or referrals as part of your care. From there, your GP stays involved as you move through the conception and pregnancy journey, so your care remains connected at every stage.
