Recovery after birth looks different for everyone, and it isn't always straightforward. This page covers the support available at WFP for your physical recovery, mental health and the practical aspects of your care in the months after birth.

Your body goes through significant changes during and after birth, and recovery takes time. Our GPs and midwives support your physical recovery at each stage, monitoring healing, pelvic floor health and any complications that may arise. If something doesn't feel right, we take it seriously and address it early.

The postnatal period can bring significant emotional and psychological challenges, and they don't always present in obvious ways. Our GPs provide mental health screening at key stages throughout your postnatal care, and our in-house psychologists provide ongoing support for anxiety, depression, birth trauma and the emotional weight of early parenthood.
If you're struggling, you don't need to wait until your next scheduled appointment. Contact our team and we will make sure you're seen.

When you're ready to think about contraception after birth, our GPs can talk you through your options and help you find the right approach for your situation and your body at this stage.
If you and your partner have decided your family is complete, a vasectomy is a safe and effective long-term option. We offer bulk billed long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) services for eligible Medicare patients, including Implanon and IUCDs.

Iron deficiency is common in the postnatal period and can contribute to fatigue, brain fog and low energy that makes an already demanding time even harder. If your iron levels need restoring, we provide iron infusions in-clinic with a GP assessment beforehand to confirm it's the right option for you.
